Bahamas Industries & Construction Company Limited (BICCo) to partner with RoadBotics to provide cutting-edge AI-based road assessments to the Bahamas.
Bahamas Industries & Construction Company Limited (BICCo), a leading Bahamas-based construction company, announced Thursday that they are partnering with one of the world’s leading road assessment companies, RoadBotics, to offer governments in the Bahamas objective road assessments through the use of artificial intelligence.
“This will be a huge asset to the Bahamas,” said Timothy Clarke, President of BICCo. “Artificial intelligence will make assessing road conditions in the Bahamas quicker and more effective for government decision-makers who have the difficult task of managing hundreds of miles of roads across multiple islands. With the RoadBotics technology, government officials will have reliable information about our roads, which will ultimately help them make data-driven decisions to improve the condition and safety of our roads.
“We’re looking forward to working closely with BICCo to maintain and enhance the quality of roads across the Bahamas,” said Mark DeSantis, CEO of RoadBotics, “Our hope is that RoadBotics will not only help tackle expensive current road challenges like potholes, but will also help the Ministry of Works develop future maintenance plans that will save the taxpayers enormously and improve road the quality of the roads across the entire country,” DeSantis adds.
“RoadBotics provides road assessments that are more time-effective and affordable than traditional visual inspections or high-tech sensor vans,” said Desmondo Bootle, a senior engineering student at University of Bahamas and business partner at BICCo. With a 1-5 rating system, RoadBotics is able to provide decision-makers with road condition data for their entire road network, which makes it possible for governments to make data-driven decisions about their road networks such as where to allocate funds, or how to most effectively prevent further road damage.
We are very excited to be the first company in the Bahamas to offer the RoadBotics solution,” explains Clarke. “By using cutting edge AI that countries across the world are already implementing, we can not only improve the condition and safety of our roads, but also become a leader in road management across the Caribbean.” DeSantis agrees, “
BICCo has its eyes set not just on the Bahamas as it sees a need for this technology all across the Caribbean.
